Treffen des Heimlichen Anschlußes [Meeting the Clandestine Union]

~ The Düsseldorf Quartet ~
Elizabeth Korinn ~ The Captain of the Düsseldorf Chapter of the Clandestine Rebellion, now the Clandestine Union, Elizabeth has grown to lighten up since she and the Quartet safely escaped from the Darkstrom Concentration Camp in Lisbon, Portugal. But the resurgence of the lost enemy puts her back into the mission for the freedom and safety of Eastern Europe.

Johannes Korinn ~ Elizabeth's younger sister, the Chapter's Chaplain-in-Training, was born blind, but her sight was granted to her miraculously after her journey with the Quartet home to Düsseldorf. Having witnessed her very first shower of shooting stars, a star in particular touches her very being. This very occurrence will be key to the mission upcoming for her, the Quartet, and the Mensch-Maschinen that accompany them.

Rebekah Zordenoff ~ The Nurse of the Chapter, and Elizabeth and Johannes' next-door neighbor, Rebekah has come a long way since the escape and departure from Lisbon. Throughout her progress she found the courage to stand up for herself and her friends, as well as the courage to step out of her comfort zone. She is also happily engaged to one of the Mensch-Maschinen, Wolfgang, and she can't be any happier. Her courage will be much needed for the new mission ahead.

Anneke Weldenta ~ Elizabeth's best friend since childhood, and the First Lieutenant of the Chapter, she is the resident go-to of the Quartet for advice, wisdom, and sometimes a good laugh. She had her heart guarded for most of her life, until one of the Mensch-Maschinen taught her to let her fear go, to drop her defenses. She is also very skilled in photography and tends to be the Madame-Fix-It when something goes a bit awry.

~ The Mensch-Maschinen ~
Florian Schneider ~ Once aloof and a bit distant, he warmed up to the Captain of the Quartet, Elizabeth, and over the course of the trip homeward won her heart. He still has a tendency of being a jerk at times and for being elusive, but he more than makes up for it by his loyalty and honor.

Ralf Hütter ~ Florian's best friend and Captain of the Mensch-Maschinen, Ralf found his heart within the being and essence of Elizabeth's younger sister Johannes. Along the way the couple were inseparable, and it was also through her that he found the love of his life. He is now more than ready to protect his Prinzessin against the resurgence of the Darkstrom.

Wolfgang Flür ~ Once a playboy, he finally settled down when he first looked into the eyes of his beloved Rebekah. He fought time and again with his self-control, and along the way he found a new respect for life, for the people around him, and more importantly for himself. He and Rebekah are now engaged, the wedding date not quite set as a new mission is about to unfold.

Karl Bartos ~ When armed with a camera, no one is safe from Karl. He and his girlfriend Anneke both share a love for taking pictures, and at times to stop what they're doing to simply catch the beauty of the earth with their own eyes. He and Wolfgang are also the best of friends, not that he isn't best friends with the entire gang. He also provides the comic relief when desperately needed.

Fritz Hilpert [MR310556] ~ The Conductor onboard the Trans-Europa originally served as a Guardian to the Princess of Metropolis, Kometenmelodie, and was sent to Düsseldorf to aid the Clandestine Rebellion, now the Clandestine Union, in the defeat of the Darkstrom forces. Throughout his mission he's never forgotten the Princess he protected and fallen for. He is still in the process of becoming a Mensch-Maschine, after an accident before leaving Metropolis brought about his transition to Roboter.
*The MR in his code number stands for Metropolitan Roboter.*

Henning Schmitz [MM261253] ~ Best friend of Fritz and already a Mensch-Maschine, Henning is the solitary Professor in Düsseldorf's Spacelab. He was responsible for the process of Robotization, a dangerous undertaking in which a person near death yet wanting to live would turn into a Mensch-Maschine. These days the main visitor happens to be the ghost of Andelina and Gregorio's deceased daughter, Rinalee.
*The MM in his code number stands for Metropolitan [Mensch-]Maschine.*

Alessandro Rossanda ~ A Mensch-Maschine since his infancy, he's grown up just like any other normal kid. Except, he's anything but. Born, raised and orphaned in Venice, Italy, he was taken under the wings of the Düsseldorf Quartet and their boyfriends. He is now the proud son of Andelina and Gregorio, but he never forgets his roots, and spends more time with Fritz and Henning in the Spacelab with research.

Sonnenschein Ehre [MR041083] ~ Known affectionately as "Sonnen" she is the daughter of one of Princess Kometenmelodie's servants. After her mother died she stayed with the Princess. But when the Princess was captured by the Darkstrom and Metropolis laid in chaos, she traveled through the safe realm of Radioland to Düsseldorf to find Fritz and the legendary Light of Hope, the Radiostern [Radio Star]. She is Alessandro's age, and a Roboter with many mysteries of her own.
*The MR in his code number stands for Metropolitan Roboter.*

Princess Kometenmelodie Kohoutek ~ The Princess of Metropolis, she was closely guarded by many servants and friends. Her closest guardian was Fritz, and she looked towards Sonnen as a younger sister after the death of her mother. After Fritz left, the Darkstrom captured her and began to destroy Metropolis. She has, however, never lost hope that help would arrive, and that Fritz would return to save her...

~ The Clandestine Guardians ~
Andelina Rossanda ~ Andelina and Wolfgang have been friends since they were kids, having not seen each other in years. Now she, reunited not only with her buddy but also with her husband Gregorio, is a proud adopting parent, and she joins the battle against the dark forces about to revive.

Gregorio Rossanda ~ Andelina's husband befriended the Düsseldorf Quartet before the wife did--he helped the girls escape from the Concentration Camp in Lisbon, Portugal. Now home with his wife and son, he helps his pal Wolfgang and the gang take on the enemy as Captain of the Guardians.

Rinyalena Rossanda ~ The deceased daughter of Andelina and Gregorio is no longer sitting in the sidelines. Her soul taking on an older, mature appearance, she visits her new brother Alessandro, and keeps Henning company while he guards the Spacelab in solitude. Her concern for the Professor soon becomes clear, and when a freak accident in the Spacelab occurs, she faces a tough decision. She is affectionately known as "Rinalee" and aids Sonnen in arriving at Düsseldorf.

Faith Issadora ~ One of Andelina's best friends since the early days of the late-night cafe in Vienna, Austria, Faith followed her best friend and, taking her boyfriend with her, moved to Düsseldorf to start a proper, new life. She also helps with research at the Spacelab.

Ingo Jackson ~ American by descent, German by birth, he can relate to the Korinn sisters in being proper odd-ones-out. Except, he tags along with Gregorio in keeping the peace while the girls work at their new local cafe. Ingo is very protective of his fearless girlfriend, Faith, and very loyal to the gang in friendship.

The Prelude ~ Ein Sturm der Radiosterne [A Storm of Radio Stars]

Aus des Weltalls Ferne
Funken Radiosterne
Pulsare und Quasare

[From the deeps of space
Radio stars are transmitting
Pulsars and quasars]

~ "Radiostern [Radio Stars]" - Kraftwerk

Johannes sat at the tree outside her window, on a sturdy branch, her eyes fixed to the heavenly night sky. The winter snow clouds had cleared, and the stars shone brightly. She took it all in--the sight of stars, the sweet chill of the winter evening, the melodies of techno-pop that echoed from Anneke's house across the street. The rest of the Quartet and the Mensch-Maschinen were all at Anneke's house to help with wrapping presents for the Hanukkah party the next night at Rebekah's, and Ralf wanted to stay with Johannes. But she insisted that Ralf go along to the gift-wrapping party, while she would stay behind and recollect her thoughts and read up on the history of the Jewish festival.

Yet that was all forgotten when she looked out the window to her room and saw the stars twinkling in the skies.

A smile of wonder crossed her face as suddenly one, then two shooting stars soared through the heavens. Then another one... and then it was as if a shower of shooting stars took place. And then... she blinked--

the stars... they all began to soar...

Ralf sat with Karl and Anneke on her porch swing, talking amongst themselves about life, love, and music. Among another topic of conversation was the rumor that Wolfgang had, indeed, proposed to Rebekah--this the trio noted when they saw the ring her mother had left her, on her ring finger. But the couple said nothing about it whatsoever--odds were they probably would announce it at the Hanukkah Party the next night.

But in the meantime the trio talked of it, weren't too sure what all to make of it. Elizabeth and Florian were inside with the couple, wrapping up presents and singing along to some Daft Punk. All was well, more or less.

Ralf glanced around at his neighborhood, his eyes then fixing to the tree outside Johannes' room--and Johannes herself on a branch, eyes fixed in a daze to heaven.

"Sweet Mother of--!?" he whispered as he stood up, as Karl and Anneke stood up with him.

"Ralf?" Anneke asked as she looked in the direction Ralf fixed his eyes. "What is it? What happened? And what the...

"...oh my God, the hell is she doing up there--!?"

But Karl looked and pointed up towards the sky. "I don't think she's ever seen a shower of shooting stars before, you know?"

Ralf and Anneke looked up and, breathing a sigh of relief, sat down on the swing again. Karl sat with them, conversation resumed. But no one would guess what happened next...

Johannes kept her eyes upon the sky, the stars all soaring, bracing herself against the tree as she stood strong on the branch. The sight of this was one truly to behold, not something that happens every night.

And then...

"--die Hölle!? Die Sterne ändern Farbe!? Sie wendeten ganz sich an Grün!!" Johannes thought out loud to herself as she watched the starstreaks turn from white hot, to gold and then to green. And the stars that now began to shoot across the sky were green as well.

Suddenly she heard a voice, in her head... a transmission...

* ~ * Help... someone out there... help me...

Please... help me...

Please... save Metropolis...

Somebody, please help me...! * ~ *

Johannes blinked her eyes and looked up to the starstreaks again, this time certain that the green starlight had something to do with the voice begging for help in her head. A star then began to soar down from the sky towards her--it was small but its green glow was bright, and she couldn't turn her head away from its beauty. And then... as it approached her, the star changed color from green... to blue, then purple... red... orange... yellow...

and as she reached out to catch it the star shone white hot, glowing brightly in her hands as she held it carefully. The star shone brightly, then disappeared in a blinding flash. Johannes blinked, wondering what happened to the star, and then felt a warmth in her chest--a powerful glow, very strong, very deep. Her eyes went to the sky again--but the starstreaks had all gone.

Unsure of what-all had gone on and what this meant, she ran on the branch to jump through her window back to her room, and ran downstairs to tell Ralf and the others about what just happened. Something... something had to have happened to have caused this to occur to only Johannes, but what? And whose voice was it that called to her for help? She had to get to the heart of the situation.

Quickly she ran across the street to relate to the gang of what-all had happened...
